This memorial website was created with love, by his family for Matthew Lentz who the angels brought to us on September 19, 2002 in Hudson, NY and who the angels took away from us on May 01, 2005 at the age of 2 yrs, 7 months and 11 days due to Matthew drowning in our neighbor's unfenced pool.
Our anger towards the homeowners who didn't replace the fence and the pool contractor who serviced the pool without the fence, will not bring Matt back, but our faith in the Lord will give us comfort.
We are forever grateful to Dan DiNicola, Channel 6 and Paul Merrill Fox 23 News both here in Albany, NY, as well as Brendan Keefe from CBS 2 in Manhattan for their support in helping us report homeowners who do not have their pools fenced in and their efforts in educating our viewers. We need to reach out to everyone to stress the importance of pool safety.
On a happier memory .... We will remember Matt forever. His beautiful blue eyes explored the world in wonder and awe. Our family had the awesome experience of loving and knowing Matthew, a child who had the amazing ability to love unconditionally and to touch so many people with his smile, curiousity and sense of humor (yes, even at 2 years old). He was an amazing child who always had manners, a hug for you, and a way to turn a bad day into a "smile" with his love. He loved to eat mac & cheese, 'chikn', anything chocolate and Sponge Bob cookies. He loved to watch Barney, Oobi, Jay Jay the Jet Plane, Dragon Tales and Bear in the Big Blue House. He loved Elmo. Go Bobby Labonte #18! He enjoyed watching NASCAR races with daddy and loved "Bonny Bonny La Bonny!!! (BOBBY LABONTE)!!
Please visit Matt's Time Line as it will tell you in detail his accomplishments in the short time God granted us with Matt's presence. Thank you.
My husband recently had to repaint the boys bedroom and had to paint over some of Matt's "artwork". Pictures were taken of them though to keep as they are treasures more priceless than Monet or Van Gogh.
He loved to play army with his two older brothers. Everything he seemed to pick up became an instant rifle or handgun, Matt came complete with the sound effects. He definately was a character.
My mom used to say his hands looked so "old". She said he was a "old" soul come back to check on everyone.
Love doesn't know the boundaries of death. Our Love for Matt will exist even after we pass. The pain....will always be there, for our sons Mike and Danny who, as children can't comprehend what has happened or why, it will be with them forever, and they, in turn, will convey their love for Matt to their children.

He (buggy) was Daddy's buddy during the day and Mommy's snuggle bunny at night. He loved to be tickled and to tease everyone. He was the last child born to us. No one can ever take your place Matt.
As of 6/13/07 Bill S1092B in Senate and Bill S5933 were passed in BOTH Senate and Assembly in Albany and NOW HAVE BEEN SIGNED BY GOVERNOR SPITZER AND ARE LAW. They entail stricter laws for temporary fencing and Pool Dealers to notify purchasers of the laws. There are still 4 bills now re-introduced for 2007-2008 - S5179, A2151, A2616, A6131, A0723 (which is in its 3rd Reading) in NYS Assembly which include a Class A Misdemeanor to be charged for a homeowner who neglects to fence their pool as a result of such neglect, a person dies and to notify town supervisors for permits as well as stricter fines and penalties. Pray they are passed come January, 2008.
"God took you from us so suddenly, yet, I cannot think of any 2 1/2 years in my lifetime that I have been so blessed with such love, amazement, and happiness then the time I was given with you." Love Mommy.
OUR ARMS ACHE TO HOLD YOU AGAIN!!!! TO GIVE YOU KISSES AND HUGS!!! TO HEAR YOUR HEARTY LAUGH COME FROM YOUR TOES!!!

SWEET ANGEL MATT WE MISS YOU SO MUCH!!! LOVE, MOMMY, DADDY, MIKE & DANNY
